Street Views of Tameside Churches
Despite the worst fears of the Daily Mail, I'm not aware that anyone's privacy or property has been compromised by Google Street View. Indeed, used wisely it can be a great crime deterrent, like my dad's house where if you zoom in, you can clearly see a large Alsatian head glaring back at the camera. Definitely not a window that Billy the Burglar would think of stepping through if he values his legs!
From a family history perspective, though, Street View can save petrol and shoe leather in visiting places of interest. To demonstrate the point, I've put together a collection of images of churches and chapels in and around Tameside. I've tried to capture them, but there are omissions for one of several reasons: a simple oversight on my part; the church isn't covered by Street View or; they are, but I can't locate them. Please let me know of any that should be added.
