George Lane, not sure when. Our
house is the last on the left, built 1881, or thereabouts.
It looks like one of three in a row. In fact, there
are only two houses. They are both L-shaped in layout,
so the first is double-fronted and single-backed,
while ours is the reverse. The large house on the
right still exists, as do later dwellings beyond.
On a personal note, our house was sold in 1947 by
James RHODES. His family had a funeral business
in Bredbury, and indeed, it still exists, although
I believe it was bought out by the Co-op. Whether
he is even a distant relation, I have no idea!
