Ashton Airman Missing
Mrs Hadfield of 34 Granville-street, Cockbrook, has this week received official news that her husband, Bomb-Aimer Howard Hadfield, is missing after air operations. Aged 23 years, he is the son of Mr and Mrs J H Hadfield of Mill-lane, Ashton, and was married for three years.

Prior to joining the Royal Air Force two years ago, Howard assisted his father in his furniture removal business. Howard received his training in South Africa, became a Sergeant-Observer, and later transferred to the Bomb-Aimers Section. He had been in England since last Christmas.
