Built by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Limited, Newcastle, England, 1912. 18099 gross tons; 625 (bp) feet long; 71 feet wide. Steam quadruple expansion engines, twin screw. Service speed 17 knots. 2850 passengers ( 300 first class, 350 second class, 2200 third class).

Built for Cunard Line, British flag, in 1912 and named Laconia. Liverpool-New York or Boston service. Became auxiliary cruiser in 1914. Resumed passenger service in 1916. Sunk by a German U-boat in the North Atlantic; 12 lost in 1917.
