Marriage of George RHODES and Charlotte GODDARD

George RHODES married Charlotte GODDARD on Monday, 1 January 1849 in the Parish of Glossop. Both were of 'full age' and living in Charlesworth. He was a widower and worked as a labourer. The only information about his father was that he was 'dead'. Charlotte was a spinster and she was the daughter of Miles GODDARD, a farmer, so she was the sister of George's first wife, Margaret, who had died less than three months before.

George could not sign his name, but Charlotte could. The witnesses were John NUTTALL, her brother-in-law, married to her younger sister, Fanny, and Robert WINTERBOTTOM. They were married by licence by John STONE.
