Death of Margaret GODDARD

Margaret died on 14 September 1848 at Woodhead, Tintwistle. The cause of death was given as 'fever 10 days, child birth natural 3 days effusion on the brain certified'. The latter refers to a build up of fluid around an organ and it appears she was ill when she gave birth to her daughter, Margaret Goddard RHODES. She was described as the wife of George RHODES, a miner and the informant was her brother, John GODDARD, a labourer from Mottram, who was present at the time of her death.
