Marriage of Matthew RHODES
and Mary DEARNALEY
Matthew
RHODES and Mary DEARNALEY
married at St Michael and All Angels, Ashton-under-Lyne,
on 18 January 1892. Matthew was aged 23 and was a bachelor.
He lived on Stamford Street, Ashton and worked as a labourer,
while his father, George RHODES,
was a collier. Mary was a 22 year old spinster, also living
on Stamford Street, so it is possible that Matthew was
living with her family to avoid paying two lots of banns
to be read. Her father, David, was a labourer.
The witnesses were Job Povey and Ann Bramald, X her mark.
