Marriage of James Shorrocks and Mary Elizabeth Dean
James and Elizabeth married on Sunday, 1 December 1889 at St Peter's Church, Ashton. James was a 30 year old bachelor (he was actually aged 34) and lived at 38 Bradgate Street, Ashton. He was a foundry labourer and his father, John, was a boiler maker. Elizabeth, as she preferred to be known, was a 25 year old spinster and lived at 9 Bollington Street, Ashton. She gave no occupation and her father, Edward, was a blacksmith. The witnesses were James Isherwood and Ellen Clewes.
