Thomas
Stanley was landlord of the Bull's Head in Audenshaw
and was listed as a 'victualler' in Piggott's Directory
of 1841 and' Victualler and Hat Manufacturer' in 1843.
The Bull's Head is said to have been on the opposite side
to the present day Blue Pig, but nearer to Ashton, and
probably knocked down to make way for the reservoirs.
Both his sons James and John
followed him into the licensed trade, the latter owning
his own brewery.
